3 years back, 3 years forward

As part of my position as an Operations Manager at a software company, I get to sit in on 'one-on-one' meetings between the boss and the employee.

I'm just the middle person and I make three. These meetings are simply a way to open up communication and keep employees accountable.

This one meeting was so fantastically reflective, I was totally in my element. He mentioned he started his job at the company 3 years ago thinking he would do it for 1 year to try it out. Now three years have passed and he realizes he is nowhere close to where he imagined he would be at this stage of his career.⠀
Isn't this life?

So many of us sleep walk through life... checking our boxes, crossing our to dos, mindlessly watching, passively scrolling... stuck in circumstances we can't seem to get out of... stuck with habits we can't seem to shake off. Sleep walking...

Before this meeting, in a conversation, a friend here asked me what is the purpose of my Dua project and I heard myself saying, 'To wake people up.' ⠀

To wake people up. So here I go. Like my colleague's reflections, think about where you were 3 years ago, where you are now, and where you want to be in 3 years. ⠀

Are you where you thought you would be 3 years ago?⠀

Are you doing anything to take you where you want to be 3 years from now InshaAllah?⠀

Start writing these down because guess what... time will pass regardless. Sleepwalking. Wake walking. Sprinting. Climbing. Diving. Time will pass regardless.

Everything in the Dua Journal guides you towards this wakeful living. Yes time will pass but you will have a list of what you wanted 3 years ago... you have momentum from awareness of all the blessings surrounding you... you have a place to set small goals and actively take steps towards where you want to be in 3 years. 🌷Umeda
