dips and bumps

I must have ‘eyed’ yesterday’s morning routine of getting ready for school. It went by so smoothly yesterday, but today was another story. The zipper was stuck for one child. Shoes were too tight for another. A shirt had stains for the third child. We couldn’t find one’s backpack. And we pushed to the last minute to get out because it took me longer to find the Story of Salih for Prophet Friday post. ⠀

Chaos. This is small. But in life, there are days when things go so unexpectedly wrong that we think we are going to lose our minds. And also in our iman, we experience so many bumps and dips throughout our journey. As soon as we think, we’ve got our iman under control, it dips again. ⠀

Such is life. We acknowledge. And we breath through it. At the peak of our chaos, we don’t realize it, but over and over, we somehow make it through it all. Everything passes. We keep pushing with our positive habits. And we just breath through it. ⠀

And so I did. After dropping the kids to school and daycare. I drove to work in silence breathing deeply in and out. And quietly calling Allah through Subhanallah (Glory to Allah), Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), and Allahu Akbar (Allah is Greater).⠀

And this will pass. And I pray that my time at work will be a little less bumpy. But if it is, then again I will breath and remind myself Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, and Allaku Akbar. How do you recover from your bumps? Have you learned to acknowledge them or do you resist and fixate?⠀
